You can only insert pictures, which can be accessed over the internet. Pictures on your own computer must first be uploaded on an internet server.
In order to insert a picture with the name "mypicture.gif", you must copy the complete URL "http://www.myaddress.com/mypicture.gif" and insert it together with the tags "[img]" and "[/img]".
